The McMerry Estate, in Scotland’s East Lothian, is a development built as part of the urgent post-war need for high volume, low-cost social housing.
The ‘No Fines’ construction system used was specifically developed for this purpose.
It’s called ‘No Fines’ because the concrete shell of the properties are built without using fine aggregates.
An Energy Efficient Barn
In July of 2015, Matilda’s Planet were approached by a returning customer who was already enjoying the benefits of Matilda’s blanket in his rural farmhouse home.
The enquiry related to a barn conversion project taking place within the grounds of the Farm and the brief was to turn a 19th Century barn into a warm, energy efficient property ready for occupancy in Autumn 2015. A big challenge on a very tight turnaround.
